The Newfield High School Art Club is proud to sponsor its first annual Empty Bowl fundraiser dinner on Saturday, April 1, 2017 starting at 6:00 pm at the Newfield HS café. For a $10 donation, come share a soup dinner, enjoy live music, and choose a handmade bowl to keep. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Newfield Kitchen Cupboard, a food pantry working to alleviate hunger within the Newfield Community.
What is the Empty Bowls projects? It is a grassroots effort to raise awareness about and fight hunger on a local level. Artists and educators work with the community to create hand-crafted bowls. Guests are then invited to share in a simple meal of soup and bread. For a donation, guests choose one of these bowls to eat from at the dinner event, then get to keep it as a reminder of the empty bowls in the world. The money raised is donated to an organization working to end hunger within the community. All proceeds from our project will benefit the Newfield Kitchen Cupboard.
Soup for the dinner will be generously donated by Stella’s Barn, Mercado, Café Cent-dix, The Culinary Arts program at TST BOCES, and other local restaurants. Bread and supplies will be donated by Wegmans & GreenStar Coop.
